The Gulf of Maine Foundation's support for research at the Darling Marine Center has included many different projects including:

• facilitating the financing and construction of a Flowing Seawater Laboratory
• funding the purchase of an electron microscope
• providing vessels for the research fleet
• sponsoring scholarship programs for students at the DMC
